TGI Fridays Case Study

TGI Fridays enhances guest experience with ‘all-in-one’ payment as a service solution

CHALLENGE

Providing the best and most efficient payment experience for guests is all part of enjoying the fun at a TGI Fridays restaurant. Equally, having effective back office capability is vital in keeping costs to a minimum and having the optimum payment data available to run a profitable business. Previously, TGI Fridays had used older generation ‘pay at the table’ Chip and PIN terminals, which were not always fully integrated into one payments system. The terminals were also approaching ‘end of life’ for Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance.

SOLUTION

TGI Fridays has completed a comprehensive payment system upgrade and renewed its contract for Verifone’s Payment as a Service (PaaS) solution. More than 600 of Verifone’s NFC-capable VX 680 and VX 820 DUET terminals have been deployed across the UK. These portable and countertop devices allow the restaurant chain to provide a fast, easy-to-use and secure ‘pay at the table’ service, which is crucial for any busy bar and restaurant estate. The terminals are integrated into Verifone’s Payment as a Service solution for secure end-to-end transaction visibility and provision of back office management information.

RESULTS

Deploying the VX terminals and the PaaS solution across the whole UK estate has enhanced and future-proofed TGI Fridays payment system, creating an even better experience for both team members and guests. The VX range is fully contactless/NFC-enabled for supporting new payment methods, such as Apple Pay and others as they become available. The integrated solution ensures TGI Fridays has a payment infrastructure that is PCI-certified and pre-certified with major acquirers. The service also supports TGI Fridays UK gift card redemption scheme, adding another benefit for all the restaurant’s guests.
